How can I Take a Good Image on Pathfinder?

Pathfinder - How to Take a Good Image

  1. Select a hard, non-porous surface.
  2. Some surfaces will not be suitable for Pathfinder imaging.  Avoid soft surfaces (e.g. fabrics) or porous materials (e.g. uncoated wood, cracked leather) as these surfaces are not recommended.  Some plastics and synthetic materials with added brightness may also be undesired.
  3. Align 8-12 inches (check what the app notes) from a surface.
  4. Position the Halo directly in front of the surface (i.e. parallel, not at a 45 angle).
  5. Position to maximize light exposure and avoid creating shadows.  Focus on approximately a 10 cm x 10 cm area.
  6. Lighting - visible light, but not too bright.
  7. Reduce lighting glares on the surface.
  8. Do not move objects in the frame while in the process of imaging (example of desk handle and bag).
  9. Do not create shadows between image sets.
  10. Do not bump the camera or this will create displacement issues (example of error message and example of unstable image).
  11. If an image is taken and PATHFINDER recognises something in frame has shifted too much, the following pop-up will appear (image-01 below). Although you may opt to continue processing the image, it is not reccomended as results may be skewed.
